Teclado Consciente TIM: An App to Promote Equality
Teclado Consciente TIM is a mobile keyboard designed to identify words and expressions that may have prejudiced connotations when used in daily messages. Developed by TIM Brasil in partnership with Virgula Consultoria, the app provides explanatory content on why certain language is classified as prejudiced, suggesting non-pejorative alternatives.
Installation is easy: in general settings, search for "Keyboard." Then, "Add new keyboard." Select "Teclado Consciente TIM" and allow full access. The keyboard identifies pejorative words and expressions as they are typed and notifies the user of their occurrence. By clicking "expand," the user can read a full explanation of the term used and has the option to replace it with another word suggested by the keyboard.
There are also words and expressions that should not be used under any circumstances. In this case, the keyboard notifies the inappropriate use of the word, presents the reasons that make the word and/or expression inappropriate, and suggests not using it. At the end of the correction, the sharing button allows users to share the app on social networks.
